Why Appraise?
- To establish
a replacement value for insurance purposes before a loss
(stolen, lost, destroyed, or damaged)
- To meet
insurance company requirements for a "Fine Arts Floater"
including transit and display
- To establish
value for donation, gift, or estate purposes as required by
the IRS
- To obtain
a descriptive written record for the family
- To mail
your quilt and/or meet requirements for entrance in a textile
competition
- To determine
fair market value for the sale of quilts
- To accompany
a quilt to be given as a gift
How
are appraisals conducted?
A confidential written
appraisal is completed for each quilt and a photo is taken for identification.
Appraisals take approximately 30 minutes. You will receive a professionally
written document at that time. If research is advised, the appraisal
will be mailed to you.
Appraisals can be
conducted in a home, at a quilt show (while hanging on display), before
or after lectures, or in any mutually agreed upon location.
